Water Pollution Control İn Campus Area

Water pollution control in campus area

Sakarya University implements systematic measures to prevent water pollution across all campus areas, aligning with national environmental regulations and institutional sustainability goals. The university prioritizes the separation of clean water sources, rainwater, and wastewater systems to avoid cross-contamination and ensure effective pollution control.

Stormwater is managed through a dedicated drainage infrastructure that channels rainwater away from waste pipelines, preventing overload and reducing the risk of contamination. Additionally, wastewater generated on campus is collected through a closed sewage system and discharged into the municipal wastewater treatment facility in compliance with local regulations.

The university also promotes pollution prevention through environmentally conscious landscaping practices and the restricted use of chemicals or pollutants near water collection zones. Awareness campaigns and visual materials across the campus encourage students and staff to avoid actions that may contribute to water pollution.

Through proactive infrastructure management and community engagement, Sakarya University maintains high standards in protecting water quality and preserving the natural environment within and beyond its campus borders.

The water used on campus is supplied by the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKİ) from Lake Sapanca, where the university is located. The water quality is regularly monitored by SASKİ and published on the institution’s website. (https://www.sakarya-saski.gov.tr/icerik/173).
