Sakarya University has implemented a comprehensive water reuse program to reduce overall water consumption and foster sustainable practices across its campuses. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to responsible resource management and environmental stewardship.
To support water efficiency, the university applies various green building standards that contribute to reduced water use. All irrigation activities are carried out using water sourced from natural reserves, thereby eliminating dependence on mains water and enhancing sustainable water management efforts.
In addition, wastewater generated on campus is treated in accordance with environmental regulations and used for the irrigation of forested areas, minimizing discharge and promoting reuse. Rainwater is collected through dedicated infrastructure and repurposed both for landscape irrigation and to meet the needs of stray animals within the university grounds.
Sakarya University continuously monitors its water reuse systems and remains committed to improving reuse rates through regular evaluation and the implementation of new initiatives, ensuring the long-term effectiveness of its sustainability goals.
